Team

Designed and built by an exceptional team of highly respected building professionals and international craftsmen. More than 400 workers contributed their skills and expertise over six years.

Ross Newman, Owner

Ross Newman co-founded an industrial technology company based in Zurich and Houston, Texas. He earned his MBA at Columbia University where he also studied in the architecture school. His past projects include the conversion of an historic turbine factory in Zurich to offices and an art gallery, and the interior fit-out of a new 3,200 square foot apartment in New York’s Chelsea district. Before returning to New Zealand with his family in 2017, Ross honed his culinary skills at Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris. Having known Barochan since his days as a student at nearby Kings School, Ross was inspired to restore the home to its former status as one of Auckland’s most important addresses. The renovation has been informed by Ross’ experiences in Switzerland and the United States, where he was influenced by some of the world’s most beautiful and well-constructed homes.
